...Nawet jeśli masz tylko parę okrążeń w bardziej normalnym rytmie, nie jadąc za autem z kamerami albo obok niego, to te odczucia zostają i są ważne dla kierowcy, bo to jest taka w cudzysłowie „pierwsza randka”. Nie jesteś w stanie ocenić, jak mocny jest ten pakiet, ale masz odczucia – a moje odczucia szły w parze z tymi, które Kimi i Antonio później mieli w Bahrajnie na testach. Tam warunki były bardzo trudne, przez wiatr i piasek było naprawdę ekstremalnie, ale nasz bolid był łatwy w prowadzeniu. Dokładnie takie pozytywne odczucia miałem w Barcelonie, gdzie tak naprawdę przejechałem tylko parę okrążeń pełnego toru, gdzie mogłem wrzucić wyższy bieg niż trójka czy czwórka...

...Dobrze pamiętam, jak siedmiokrotny mistrz świata Lewis Hamilton, nadal jeżdżąca legenda Formuły 1, ścigał się ze mną w 1998 i 1999 roku. To były jego pierwsze sezony na arenie międzynarodowej, tak samo zresztą jak moje. Tutaj nawiązuję właśnie do cierpliwości i zrozumienia sportu – jeśli mnie pamięć nie myli, a dosyć dobrze pamiętam tamte czasy, to Lewis bardzo rzadko, rzadziej niż okazjonalnie kończył wyścigi przede mną. I to nie jest tak, że Lewis Hamilton nie był dobry, tylko po prostu w tych latach nie dysponował pakietem, który dawał mu możliwości wygrywania wyścigów. Z kolei w 2000 roku, kiedy powstał jakby juniorski zespół McLarena i Mercedesa, tylko dla Hamiltona i Rosberga, to automatycznie wygrali praktycznie większość wyścigów...
